I'm glad to see this update is scheduled for April, but want to make sure the option to convert stack display to big blinds isn't just going to show up for our chip stack display.
  1. Take some ordinary poker chips and make two piles of four. Put three fingers on the side of one pile, and the thumb on the side of the other pile. Gently squeeze the chips together. Put your fore finger in-between the two piles and run it upwards causing the chips to interlock one by one from alternate piles. Push them together into one big stack, and then separate them, ready to go again.
  2. If you don't get the $ sign on the chips, then this is a possible breakdown: 200 x 25 400 x 100 200 x 500 100 x 1000 100 x 5000 Use the chips to represent cents when you're in a cash game - 25 equals a quarter. 200 quarters should be plenty to have large stacks at a $20 buy in 25c/50c game for example, just add the 100 chips as required to make up for larger buy ins.

i.e. Bet sizing should be displayed in big blinds, the pot size should be in big blinds, opponents bet size in big blinds, etc.

Poker Tournament Chip Values. If you decide to play a poker tournament and want to be able to play more than 5 or 6 blind levels, then you will need at least 4 chip colors. Most chip sets now come with at least red, white, green, and black. Here is a simple and flexible chip value system commonly used in live poker tournaments: Red – $25. On the left hand side of the poker chip, zoom in on the two open paths of the half circles we created. Click on the bottom open path with the Pen Tool (P). Notice that when the Pen Tool (P) is over the open path, it changes to show a back slash. This indicates you are on an open path.

Side
This may already be included in the plan, but since it only says converting big blinds to stack display, I just wanted to make sure that everything else was also going to be shown in big blinds as well and not just our chip stack.
Thanks for these great updates!

Hi!

I need the wisdom of my fellow opencv gurus for a fun but tricky problem. I am going to have a poker tournament with my friends at my home, and I wanted to record the money bet with a camera which will be placed on the side of the table.

The chips will be stacked in a single stack, and can have colors white, black, red, blue, green. I wanted to count the total value of chips bet by any player in the game. the players could be sitting close or away from the camera. For illustration, I have attached a pic to this post.

any help would be appreciated.

Pic doesnt work. You could try to segment the chips and then do a color detection of them

Thanks JayThaRevo, here is a link for the images: https://app.box.com/s/ido370rb74tlwfwnfzhx the main issue is that background subtraction doesnt reduce too much noise and without that, it is tough to isolate the chip stack and count the height. any ideas?

This is not a trivial task at all. One possible way to eliminate some complexity is to define where your friends have to place their chips so they are easier to segment, and then some HSV color detection. If you need to detect chip stacks on top of the table you are in for a treat :p
